National Hispanic Heritage Month, which runs from September 15 to October 15, recognizes and celebrates the histories, cultures, and contributions of individuals who came to the U.S. from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America. This annual event started in 1968 as a week-long celebration; in 1988, Hispanic Heritage Week was expanded to an entire month.
Scottsdale Community College (SCC) proudly celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month with a series of engaging activities for students, faculty, staff, and the larger community. All events are free of charge.

Embracing Your Roots, Elevate Your Future: Mastering the Balance of Cultural Identity and Personal Growth with Gina Moreno
Join us for an interactive workshop intended to help first-generation students navigate the duality of their cultural identities while fostering personal growth and achieving their aspirations.
Gina Moreno is from El Paso, Texas and holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering and a Master of Science in Systems Engineering from the University of Texas at El Paso.
Prior to her current role as a Program Manager at Microsoft, Gina gained valuable industry experience with companies such as Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Toyota, and Cummins through internships and long-term contracts.
